    Thumbs down

I have XP and saved games usually crash on reload. I've even tried installing and playing AN in "Compatibility mode - Windows 95".

Have you also tried all the other compatibility modes that are listed?
Have you also tried to start the game as an admin?
Tried to start it from PC and CD?
Maybe your save games are corrupted?

The Alien Nations page in the JoWood website is improved, I noticed today.

There are many more tips about technical problems on recent Windows OSs with AN; I'll try again to install and play it on my Windows XP.

[EDIT:] I still got sound but a blank screen. I think I got it to run before now on XP by changing my display settings before I started the game, but I won't want to do that every time I want to play AN. I'll keep my AN for when I get hold of an old version of Windows.

Thumbs up Success with Windows XP!

I just reinstalled Alien Nations on a new computer under Windows XP and it runs, straight from install without setting any compatibility modes. It doesn't reload saved games which will only be a problem if I want to play endless games without switching my computer off.

    I have a "NVIDIA Geforce 7025/NVIDIA nforce 630a" 256MB video card.

I haven't run the Alien Nations update patch - perhaps that was the problem but I won't try it while the game is working fine. (EDIT: I ran the patch to version 2.05 and its still ok, except for reloading savegames).
